The Theory

The general idea behind neuroplasticity holds that the brain may enhance its ability to function by creating new neural pathways when stimulated in the correct way. This means that learning dysfunctions (such as dyslexia) may be overcome by repeatedly exercising the brain until new connections are established which thereby resolve previous processing impediments. The software available here is designed to exercise the brain in such a way as to achieve this purpose.

For example, the Clock program initially displays two hands (the hour and minute hands). The respondent is asked to process this input and return the information in the form of two numbers. Once proficiency has been achieved at this task, a third hand may be added to the clock... and so on. With enough practise, the brain will gradually establish a new, more proficient neural network to process this data.

This approach as been demonstrated as effective and is supported by research and experience (see The Arrowsmith School).

The software on this page (present and future) is designed with the ambition of helping everybody to overcome their personal learning dysfunctions through the process of neuroplasticity.

Clock 1 Icon Clock1 V0.1-beta

The first clock program. This clock has a range of between two to four hands showing. As each new time is displayed on the clock face, the answers can be recorded and a running score is maintained. It is a beta testing release so please direct any feedback via email to the address on the Contact page. Thank you.
Clock 2 Icon Clock2 V0.1-beta

The second clock program. This clock has a range of between four to eight hands showing. As each new time is displayed on the clock face, the answers can be recorded and a running score is maintained. It is a beta testing release so please direct any feedback via email to the address on the Contact page. Thank you.
Working Memory 1 Icon Working Memory1 V0.2-beta

Start to improve your working memory capacity. You need to remember the previous symbol and indicate whether it is the same or different from the current symbol. You may increase the difficulty by remembering symbols progressively further back. Please direct feedback via email to the address on the Contact page. Thank you.
